Welcome to the new Silver Star Reporter

September 22, 2011

By Martha Martin, Editor

Welcome to Silver Star Reporter, the first totally online newspaper supporting internet journalism for East Clark  County.  We welcome our new readers, and hope you become regulars.

Our Mission is to encourage the entire community, both inside city limits and in rural areas, to become involved in everyday life as it affects them.   We will strive for content that provides readers with positive connections to their friends and neighbors; to their schools, clubs and organizations; to their environment and their government. That connectivity is essential to the strength and identity of our community.  We offer our readers a look at everyday “sidewalk” life – over and above what is now available in print media.

We will establish trust and credibility by publishing news without fear or favor.  We will provide the public with an outlet for community opinions, both in our letters to the editor section and eventually, as we grow, with comments to published articles.

Our greatest desire is to encourage critical thinking and discourse, and discover what YOU our readers think.  Explore this site, and see what we have for you.  We encourage feedback, suggestions and ideas.  We will be out and about talking with people, and we invite you to submit your own stories, photos, and ideas.  Use our Contact Page to submit.

Click all the links, see what is there.  Find out about Silver Star Reporter and your editor at “Who We Are”.  Check out how to submit letters to the editor.  Our intention is to eventually add the ability to make comments to articles.

Silver Star Reporter is a free publication, supported by advertising.  Check out our rates and sizes on our Advertising page.

This is your newspaper, designed with East Clark County residents in mind.  We are starting off with a quiet introduction and simple but interesting stories.  There will be more, and we plan to grow as we learn what readers want.

Enjoy yourselves as you explore.  We plan to be here for you, to listen, and inform.  We are part of your community.
