The one event that officially kicks of the Christmas season in Washougal and Camas is the annual Christmas performance of the Trail Band at Washburn Performing Arts Center, Washougal High School.  This year’s performance is slated for Saturday, November 26th at 7pm.  This is a community concert benefitting the Washougal Schools Foundation.

Folks have been enjoying these fabulous musicians for several years, and the concerts are usually sold out.  The 8-piece ensemble creates an energetic blend of brass and string arrangements of traditional and original music, while featuring five terrific vocalists.  Their combinations of cornet, tenor horn, tuba, fiddles, hammer dulcimer, guitars, penny whistle, mandolin, piano, saxophone, spoons (yes, spoons!), bones (even better!), drums, bass, and recorders intertwined with the rich vocal harmonies of these five vocalists surround listeners with a diverse tapestry of sound.

And what’s in store for the lucky audience? These virtuoso musicians bring you traditional hymns and carols, contemporary favorites and novelties, zesty international numbers, heartwarming stories and their own spirited compositions, all performed with rousing, down-home verve. You get a sample of nearly every conceivable musical style — including bluegrass, boogie woogie, gospel, folk and Dixieland jazz (Linda Hornbuckle joins the band for a few tunes).

You don’t want to miss this one.  Bring your whole family, and have the time of your life.  A complimentary social hour starts at 6pm, and the concert begins at 7pm.

You can reserve your tickets by calling Roger at360-852-5151.  Prices are $30, $20, and $15.
