November 16, 2011

The City of Washougal will be hosting several  holiday events this year, including a first time Lighted Christmas Parade along Main Street, scheduled for Friday December 9th at 6 PM.

The traditional community Christmas Tree Lighting will follow the parade, which will form on Main at 24th Street, traveling down to and ending at Pendleton Way.

Parade participants will pass in front of the reviewing stand located at Reflection Plaza.  Following the parade, trophies will be awarded for Best Use of Lighting, Best Use of Music, and Best Overall entries.

The parade sponsor is Waste Connections and Columbia Resource Company.  There is no entrance fee for the parade, and information and the applicaton can be found on the City’s website at www.cityofwashougal.us .

In addition to the parade, the community Christmas Tree Lighting will immediately follow in Reflection Plaza.  Santa Claus will help light the tree and will remain for photos.  Starbucks at Washougal Crossing will be providing complimentary hot chocolate,  coffee, and cookies for the public.

The City is seeking a choral group who would be interested in leading traditional Christmas carols.

Also on Friday the 9th, the Washougal Festival of Trees will host a preview evening of decorated trees as well as holiday baskets, all which will be available for auction.  Preview time is 4 PM to 8 PM in Washougal Town Square south from Reflection Plaza.

The Festival and bidding will take place on Saturday, December 10 starting at 2 PM.  Bidding on trees and baskets ends at 5 PM.  All proceeds benefit Washougal schools.

Refreshments and entertainment will be available during the preview and the Festival.
