Silver Star Reporter is in the news

Dean Baker, Oregonian reporter

I was privileged recently to be interviewed by a long-time reporter, Dean Baker, who currently writes for the Oregonian.   He was interested to find out about Silver Star Reporter and its editor.

You can see the story by clicking HERE.

Dean used to be a reporter for the Columbian some years back, during the time of the Riverwalk controversy at the Port of Camas-Washougal.  I have great respect for him as a writer; he knows this business very well.  He is also a journalism instructor, among many other talents.

I appreciate that he included the history of my grandfather, who was my inspiration for starting this newspaper.

Those who were quoted in Dean’s story have my gratitude, thank you.  You all said such wonderful things!

Being editor (and staff of one at this point) has been a challenge that I continue to welcome.  I  enjoy learning  about the people of  East Clark county (and also starting to encompass West Skamania county), and find that folks have such wonderful stories and experiences to share.

Having a story in the Oregonian gave me a boost in my readership, with the numbers now at 1493 unique readers.  I have been contacted by some who saw the story, offering their kudos and support, and steering me toward some new and exciting stories.

Thank you to all the readers of Silver Star Reporter!  And thanks to Dean Baker for his article, which I printed and have hanging in my office.
